| 26-1 |
In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from Jehovah, saying, |
ユダの王ヨシヤの子エホヤキムが世を治めた初めのころ、主からこの言葉があった、 |
| 26-2 |
Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the court of Jehovah’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in Jehovah’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word. |
「主はこう仰せられる、主の宮の庭に立ち、わたしがあなたに命じて言わせるすべての言葉を、主の宮で礼拝するために来ているユダの町々の人々に告げなさい。ひと言をも言い残しておいてはならない。 |

It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings. |
彼らが聞いて、おのおのその悪い道を離れることがあるかも知れない。そのとき、わたしは彼らの行いの悪いために、災を彼らに下そうとしたのを思いなおす。 |

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you, |
あなたは彼らに言いなさい、『主はこう仰せられる、もしあなたがたがわたしに聞き従わず、わたしがあなたがたの前に定めおいた律法を行わず、 |

to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even rising up early and sending them, but ye have not hearkened; |
わたしがあなたがたに、しきりにつかわすわたしのしもべである預言者の言葉に聞き従わないならば、（あなたがたは聞き従わなかったが、） |
| 26-6 |
then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. |
わたしはこの宮をシロのようにし、またこの町を地の万国にのろわれるものとする』」。 |
| 26-7 |
And the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah. |
祭司と預言者およびすべての民は、エレミヤが主の宮でこれらの言葉を語るのを聞いた。 |
| 26-8 |
And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that Jehovah had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, Thou shalt surely die. |
エレミヤが主に命じられたすべての言葉を民に告げ終った時、祭司と預言者および民はみな彼を捕えて言った、「あなたは死ななければならない。 |
| 26-9 |
Why hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant? And all the people were gathered unto Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah. |
なぜあなたは主の名によって預言し、この宮はシロのようになり、この町は荒されて住む人もなくなるであろうと言ったのか」と。民はみな主の宮に集まってエレミヤを取り囲んだ。 |
| 26-10 |
And when the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house unto the house of Jehovah; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Jehovah’s house. |
ユダのつかさたちはこの事を聞いて王の宮殿を出て主の宮に上り、主の宮の「新しい門」の入口に座した。 |
| 26-11 |
Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. |
祭司と預言者らは、つかさたちとすべての民に訴えて言った、「この人は死刑に処すべき者です。あなたがたが自分の耳で聞かれたように、この町に逆らう預言をしたのです」。 |
| 26-12 |
Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, Jehovah sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. |
その時エレミヤは、つかさたちとすべての民に言った、「主はわたしをつかわし、この宮とこの町にむかって、預言をさせられたので、そのすべての言葉をあなたがたは聞いた。 |
| 26-13 |
Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God; and Jehovah will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. |
それで、あなたがたは今、あなたがたの道と行いを改め、あなたがたの神、主の声に聞き従いなさい。そうするならば主はあなたがたに災を下そうとしたことを思いなおされる。 |
| 26-14 |
But as for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as is good and right in your eyes. |
見よ、わたしはあなたがたの手の中にある。あなたがたの目に、良いと見え、正しいと思うことをわたしに行うがよい。 |
| 26-15 |
Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears. |
ただ明らかにこのことを知っておきなさい。もしあなたがたがわたしを殺すならば、罪なき者の血はあなたがたの身と、この町と、その住民とに帰する。まことに主がわたしをつかわして、このすべての言葉をあなたがたの耳に、告げさせられたからである」。 |
| 26-16 |
Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us in the name of Jehovah our God. |
つかさたちと、すべての民とは、祭司と預言者に言った、「この人は死刑に処すべき者ではない。われわれの神、主の名によってわれわれに語ったのである」。 |
| 26-17 |
Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, |
その時この地の長老たち数人が立って、そこに集まっているすべての者に告げて言った、 |
| 26-18 |
Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest. |
「ユダの王ヒゼキヤの世に、モレシテびとミカはユダのすべての民に預言して言った、『万軍の主はこう仰せられる、シオンは畑のように耕され、エルサレムは石塚となり、宮の山は木のおい茂る高い所となる』。 |
| 26-19 |
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? did he not fear Jehovah, and entreat the favor of Jehovah, and Jehovah repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls. |
ユダの王ヒゼキヤと、すべてのユダの人は彼を殺そうとしたことがあろうか。ヒゼキヤは主を恐れ、主の恵みを求めたので、主は彼らに災を下すとお告げになったのを思いなおされたではないか。しかし、われわれは、自分の身に大きな災を招こうとしている」。 |
| 26-20 |
And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of Jehovah, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah: |
主の名によって預言した人がほかにもあった。すなわちキリアテ・ヤリムのシマヤの子ウリヤである。彼はエレミヤとおなじような言葉をもって、この町とこの地にむかって預言した。 |

and when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty-men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt: |
エホヤキム王と、そのすべての勇士と、すべてのつかさたちはその言葉を聞いた。そして王は彼を殺そうと思ったが、ウリヤはこれを聞いて恐れ、エジプトに逃げて行ったので、 |
| 26-22 |
and Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt; |
エホヤキム王は人をエジプトにつかわした。すなわちアクボルの子エルナタンと他の数名の人を、エジプトにつかわした。 |
| 26-23 |
and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king, who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. |
彼らはウリヤをエジプトから引き出し、エホヤキム王のもとに連れてきたので、王はつるぎをもって彼を殺し、その死体を共同墓地に捨てさせた。 |

But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death. |
しかしシャパンの子アヒカムはエレミヤを助け、民の手に渡されて殺されることのないようにした。 |
