Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, |

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. |
「わたしのしもべモーセは死んだ。それゆえ、今あなたと、このすべての民とは、共に立って、このヨルダンを渡り、わたしがイスラエルの人々に与える地に行きなさい。 |

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spake unto Moses. |
あなたがたが、足の裏で踏む所はみな、わたしがモーセに約束したように、あなたがたに与えるであろう。 |

From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border. |
あなたがたの領域は、荒野からレバノンに及び、また大川ユフラテからヘテびとの全地にわたり、日の入る方の大海に達するであろう。 |

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life. as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. |
あなたが生きながらえる日の間、あなたに当ることのできる者は、ひとりもないであろう。わたしは、モーセと共にいたように、あなたと共におるであろう。わたしはあなたを見放すことも、見捨ることもしない。 |

Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them. |
強く、また雄々しくあれ。あなたはこの民に、わたしが彼らに与えると、その先祖たちに誓った地を獲させなければならない。 |
| 1-7 |
Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest. |
ただ強く、また雄々しくあって、わたしのしもべモーセがあなたに命じた律法をことごとく守って行い、これを離れて右にも左にも曲ってはならない。それはすべてあなたが行くところで、勝利を得るためである。 |

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. |
この律法の書をあなたの口から離すことなく、昼も夜もそれを思い、そのうちにしるされていることを、ことごとく守って行わなければならない。そうするならば、あなたの道は栄え、あなたは勝利を得るであろう。 |

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for Jehovah thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. |
わたしはあなたに命じたではないか。強く、また雄々しくあれ。あなたがどこへ行くにも、あなたの神、主が共におられるゆえ、恐れてはならない、おののいてはならない」。 |

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, |
そこでヨシュアは民のつかさたちに命じて言った、 |
| 1-11 |
Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Jehovah your God giveth you to possess it. |
「宿営のなかを巡って民に命じて言いなさい、『糧食の備えをしなさい。三日のうちに、あなたがたはこのヨルダンを渡って、あなたがたの神、主があなたがたに与えて獲させようとされる地を獲るために、進み行かなければならないからである』」。 |

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying, |
ヨシュアはまたルベンびと、ガドびと、およびマナセの半部族に言った、 |
| 1-13 |
Remember the word which Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, saying, Jehovah your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land. |
「主のしもべモーセがあなたがたに命じて、『あなたがたの神、主はあなたがたのために安息の場所を備え、この地をあなたがたに賜わるであろう』と言った言葉を記憶しなさい。 |

Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them; |
あなたがたの妻子と家畜とは、モーセがあなたがたに与えたヨルダンのこちら側の地にとどまらなければならない。しかし、あなたがたのうちの勇士はみな武装して、兄弟たちの先に立って渡り、これを助けなければならない。 |

until Jehovah have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which Jehovah your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Jehovah gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising. |
そして主があなたがたに賜わったように、あなたがたの兄弟たちにも安息を賜わり、彼らもあなたがたの神、主が賜わる地を獲るようになるならば、あなたがたは、主のしもべモーセから与えられた、ヨルダンのこちら側、日の出の方にある、あなたがたの所有の地に帰って、それを保つことができるであろう」。 |

And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go. |
彼らはヨシュアに答えた、「あなたがわれわれに命じられたことをみな行います。あなたがつかわされる所へは、どこへでも行きます。 |
| 1-17 |
According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only Jehovah thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses. |
われわれはすべてのことをモーセに聞き従ったように、あなたに聞き従います。ただ、どうぞ、あなたの神、主がモーセと共におられたように、あなたと共におられますように。 |
| 1-18 |
Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of good courage. |
だれであっても、あなたの命令にそむき、あなたの命じられる言葉に聞き従わないものがあれば、生かしてはおきません。ただ、強く、また雄々しくあってください」。 |
