16-1 And the lot came out for the children of Joseph from the Jordan at Jericho, at the waters of Jericho on the east, even the wilderness, going up from Jericho through the hill-country to Beth-el; ヨセフの子孫が、くじによって獲た地の境は、エリコのほとりのヨルダン、すなわちエリコの水の東から起って、荒野に延び、エリコから山地に上っている荒野を経て、ベテルに至り、
16-2 and it went out from Beth-el to Luz, and passed along unto the border of the Archites to Ataroth; ベテルからルズにおもむき、アルキびとの領地であるアタロテに進み、
16-3 and it went down westward to the border of the Japhletites, unto the border of Beth-horon the nether, even unto Gezer; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. 西に下ってヤフレテびとの領地に達し、下ベテホロンの地域に及び、ゲゼルに達し、海に至って尽きる。
16-4 And the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance. こうしてヨセフの子孫のマナセと、エフライムとは、その嗣業を受けた。
16-5 And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: the border of their inheritance eastward was Ataroth-addar, unto Beth-horon the upper; エフライムの子孫が、その家族にしたがって獲た地の境は、次のとおりである。彼らの嗣業の東の境は、アタロテ・アダルであって、上ベテホロンに達し、
16-6 and the border went out westward at Michmethath on the north; and the border turned about eastward unto Taanath-shiloh, and passed along it on the east of Janoah; その境は、その所から海に及ぶ。北にはミクメタテがあり、東ではその境はタアナテシロで曲り、進んでヤノアの東に至り、
16-7 and it went down from Janoah to Ataroth, and to Naarah, and reached unto Jericho, and went out at the Jordan. ヤノアからアタロテとナアラに下り、エリコに達し、ヨルダンに至って尽きる。
16-8 From Tappuah the border went along westward to the brook of Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim according to their families; タップアからその境は西に進んで、カナの川に達し、海に至って尽きる。これはエフライムの子孫の部族が、その家族にしたがって獲た嗣業である。
16-9 together with the cities which were set apart for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. このほかにマナセの子孫の嗣業のうちにも、エフライムの子孫のために分け与えられた町々があって、そのすべての町々と、それに属する村々を獲た。
16-10 10?And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim unto this day, and are become servants to do taskwork. ただし、ゲゼルに住むカナンびとを、追い払わなかったので、カナンびとは今日までエフライムの中に住み、奴隷となって追い使われている。
