| 22-1 |
Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath. |
ヨシヤは八歳で王となり、エルサレムで三十一年の間、世を治めた。母はボヅカテのアダヤの娘で、名をエデダといった。 |

And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. |
ヨシヤは主の目にかなう事を行い、先祖ダビデの道に歩んで右にも左にも曲らなかった。 |

And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying, |
ヨシヤ王の第十八年に王はメシュラムの子アザリヤの子である書記官シャパンを主の宮につかわして言った、 |

Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of Jehovah, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people: |
「大祭司ヒルキヤのもとへのぼって行って、主に宮にはいってきた銀、すなわち門を守る者が民から集めたものの総額を彼に数えさせ、 |

and let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of Jehovah, to repair the breaches of the house, |
それを工事をつかさどる主の宮の監督者の手に渡させ、彼らから主の宮で工事をする者にそれを渡して、宮の破れを繕わせなさい。 |

unto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house. |
すなわち木工と建築師と石工にそれを渡し、また宮を繕う材木と切り石を買わせなさい。 |
| 22-7 |
Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully. |
ただし彼らは正直に事を行うから、彼らに渡した銀については彼らと計算するに及ばない」。 |

And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it. |
その時大祭司ヒルキヤは書記官シャパンに言った、「わたしは主の宮で律法の書を見つけました」。そしてヒルキヤがその書物をシャパンに渡したので、彼はそれを読んだ。 |

And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah. |
書記官シャパンは王のもとへ行き、王に報告して言った、「しもべどもは宮にあった銀を皆出して、それを工事をつかさどる主の宮の監督者の手に渡しました」。 |

And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king. |
書記官シャパンはまた王に告げて「祭司ヒルキヤはわたしに一つの書物を渡しました」と言い、それを王の前で読んだ。 |
| 22-11 |
And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes. |
王はその律法の書の言葉を聞くと、その衣を裂いた。 |
| 22-12 |
And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, |
そして王は祭司ヒルキヤと、シャパンの子アヒカムと、ミカヤの子アクボルと、書記官シャパンと、王の大臣アサヤとに命じて言った、 |

Go ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us. |
「あなたがたは行って、この見つかった書物の言葉について、わたしのため、民のため、またユダ全国のために主に尋ねなさい。われわれの先祖たちがこの書物の言葉に聞き従わず、すべてわれわれについてしるされている事を行わなかったために、主はわれわれにむかって、大いなる怒りを発しておられるからです」。 |

So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they communed with her. |
そこで祭司ヒルキヤ、アヒカム、アクボル、シャパンおよびアサヤはシャルムの妻である女預言者ホルダのもとへ行った。シャルムはハルハスの子であるテクワの子で、衣装べやを守る者であった。その時ホルダはエルサレムの下町に住んでいた。彼らがホルダに告げたので、 |

And she said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Tell ye the man that sent you unto me, |
ホルダは彼らに言った、「イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられます、『あなたがたをわたしにつかわした人に言いなさい。 |
| 22-16 |
Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read. |
主はこう言われます、見よ、わたしはユダの王が読んだあの書物のすべての言葉にしたがって、災をこの所と、ここに住んでいる民に下そうとしている。 |
| 22-17 |
Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched. |
彼らがわたしを捨てて他の神々に香をたき、自分たちの手で作ったもろもろの物をもって、わたしを怒らせたからである。それゆえ、わたしはこの所にむかって怒りの火を発する。これは消えることがないであろう』。 |
| 22-18 |
But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard, |
ただし主に尋ねるために、あなたがたをつかわしたユダの王にはこう言いなさい、『あなたが聞いた言葉についてイスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられます、 |

because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah. |
あなたは、わたしがこの所と、ここに住んでいる民にむかって、これは荒れ地となり、のろいとなるであろうと言うのを聞いた時、心に悔い、主の前にへりくだり、衣を裂いてわたしの前に泣いたゆえ、わたしもまたあなたの言うことを聞いたのであると主は言われる。 |

Therefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again. |
それゆえ、見よ、わたしはあなたを先祖たちのもとに集める。あなたは安らかに墓に集められ、わたしがこの所に下すもろもろの災を目に見ることはないであろう』」。彼らはこの言葉を王に持ち帰った。 |
