| 23-1 |
And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem. |
そこで王は人をつかわしてユダとエルサレムの長老たちをことごとく集めた。 |
| 23-2 |
And the king went up to the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of Jehovah. |
そして王はユダのもろもろの人々と、エルサレムのすべての住民および祭司、預言者ならびに大小のすべての民を従えて主の宮にのぼり、主の宮で見つかった契約の書の言葉をことごとく彼らに読み聞かせた。 |
| 23-3 |
And the king stood by the pillar, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book: and all the people stood to the covenant. |
次いで王は柱のかたわらに立って、主の前に契約を立て、主に従って歩み、心をつくし精神をつくして、主の戒めと、あかしと、定めとを守り、この書物にしるされているこの契約の言葉を行うことを誓った。民は皆その契約に加わった。 |
| 23-4 |
And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring forth out of the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of heaven, and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el. |
こうして王は大祭司ヒルキヤと、それに次ぐ祭司たちおよび門を守る者どもに命じて、主の神殿からバアルとアシラと天の万象とのために作ったもろもろの器を取り出させ、エルサレムの外のキデロンの野でそれを焼き、その灰をベテルに持って行かせた。 |
| 23-5 |
And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. |
また、ユダの町々とエルサレムの周囲にある高き所で香をたくためにユダの王たちが任命した祭司たちを廃し、またバアルと日と月と星宿と天の万象とに香をたく者どもをも廃した。 |
| 23-6 |
And he brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and beat it to dust, and cast the dust thereof upon the graves of the common people. |
彼はまた主の宮からアシラ像を取り出し、エルサレムの外のキデロン川に持って行って、キデロン川でそれを焼き、それを打ち砕いて粉とし、その粉を民の墓に投げすてた。 |
| 23-7 |
And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove hangings for the Asherah. |
また主の宮にあった神殿男娼の家をこわした。そこは女たちがアシラ像のために掛け幕を織る所であった。 |
| 23-8 |
And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba; and he brake down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city. |
彼はまたユダの町々から祭司をことごとく召しよせ、また祭司が香をたいたゲバからベエルシバまでの高き所を汚し、また門にある高き所をこわした。これらの高き所は町のつかさヨシュアの門の入口にあり、町の門にはいる人の左にあった。 |
| 23-9 |
Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they did eat unleavened bread among their brethren. |
高き所の祭司たちはエルサレムで主の祭壇にのぼることをしなかったが、その兄弟たちのうちにあって種入れぬパンを食べた。 |
| 23-10 |
And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech. |
王はまた、だれもそのむすこ娘を火に焼いて、モレクにささげ物とすることのないように、ベンヒンノムの谷にあるトペテを汚した。 |
| 23-11 |
And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entrance of the house of Jehovah, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the precincts; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire. |
またユダの王たちが太陽にささげて主の宮の門に置いた馬を、境内にある侍従ナタンメレクのへやのかたわらに移し、太陽の車を火で焼いた。 |
| 23-12 |
And the altars that were on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of Jehovah, did the king break down, and beat them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron. |
また王はユダの王たちがアハズの高殿の屋上に造った祭壇と、マナセが主の宮の二つの庭に造った祭壇とをこわして、それを打ち砕き、砕けたものをキデロン川に投げすてた。 |
| 23-13 |
And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. |
また王はイスラエルの王ソロモンが昔シドンびとの憎むべき者アシタロテと、モアブびとの憎むべき者ケモシと、アンモンの人々の憎むべき者ミルコムのためにエルサレムの東、滅亡の山の南に築いた高き所を汚した。 |
| 23-14 |
And he brake in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men. |
またもろもろの石柱を打ち砕き、アシラ像を切り倒し、人の骨をもってその所を満たした。 |
| 23-15 |
Moreover the altar that was at Beth-el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he brake down; and he burned the high place and beat it to dust, and burned the Asherah. |
また、ベテルにある祭壇と、イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバテの子ヤラベアムが造った高き所、すなわちその祭壇と高き所とを彼はこわし、その石を打ち砕いて粉とし、かつアシラ像を焼いた。 |
| 23-16 |
And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount; and he sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of Jehovah which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things. |
そしてヨシヤは身をめぐらして山に墓のあるのを見、人をつかわしてその墓から骨を取らせ、それをその祭壇の上で焼いて、それを汚した。昔、神の人が主の言葉としてこの事を呼ばわり告げたが、そのとおりになった。 |
| 23-17 |
Then he said, What monument is that which I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, who came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth-el. |
その時ヨシヤは「あそこに見える石碑は何か」と尋ねた。町の人々が彼に「あれはあなたがベテルの祭壇に対して行われたこれらの事を、ユダからきて預言した神の人の墓です」と言ったので、 |
| 23-18 |
And he said, Let him be; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria. |
彼は言った、「そのままにして置きなさい。だれもその骨を移してはならない」。それでその骨と、サマリヤからきた預言者の骨には手をつけなかった。 |
| 23-19 |
And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Jehovah to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth-el. |
またイスラエルの王たちがサマリヤの町々に造って、主を怒らせた高き所の家も皆ヨシヤは取り除いて、彼がすべてベテルに行ったようにこれに行った。 |
| 23-20 |
And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there, upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them; and he returned to Jerusalem. |
彼はまた、そこにあった高き所の祭司たちを皆祭壇の上で殺し、人の骨を祭壇の上で焼いた。こうして彼はエルサレムに帰った。 |
| 23-21 |
And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto Jehovah your God, as it is written in this book of the covenant. |
そして王はすべての民に命じて、「あなたがたはこの契約の書にしるされているように、あなたがたの神、主に過越の祭を執り行いなさい」と言った。 |
| 23-22 |
Surely there was not kept such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah; |
さばきづかさがイスラエルをさばいた日からこのかた、またイスラエルの王たちとユダの王たちの世にも、このような過越の祭を執り行ったことはなかったが、 |
| 23-23 |
but in the eighteenth year of king Josiah was this passover kept to Jehovah in Jerusalem. |
ヨシヤ王の第十八年に、エルサレムでこの過越の祭を主に執り行ったのである。 |
| 23-24 |
Moreover them that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of Jehovah. |
ヨシヤはまた祭司ヒルキヤが主の宮で見つけた書物にしるされている律法の言葉を確実に行うために、口寄せと占い師と、テラピムと偶像およびユダの地とエルサレムに見られるもろもろの憎むべき者を取り除いた。 |
| 23-25 |
And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to Jehovah with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him. |
ヨシヤのように心をつくし、精神をつくし、力をつくしてモーセのすべての律法にしたがい、主に寄り頼んだ王はヨシヤの先にはなく、またその後にも彼のような者は起らなかった。 |
| 23-26 |
Notwithstanding, Jehovah turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations wherewith Manasseh had provoked him. |
けれども主はなおユダにむかって発せられた激しい大いなる怒りをやめられなかった。これはマナセがもろもろの腹だたしい行いをもって主を怒らせたためである。 |
| 23-27 |
And Jehovah said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there. |
それゆえ主は言われた、「わたしはイスラエルを移したように、ユダをもわたしの目の前から移し、わたしが選んだこのエルサレムの町と、わたしの名をそこに置こうと言ったこの宮とを捨てるであろう」。 |
| 23-28 |
Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
ヨシヤのその他の事績と、彼が行ったすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。 |
| 23-29 |
In his days Pharaoh-necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and Pharaoh-necoh slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him. |
ヨシヤの世にエジプトの王パロ・ネコが、アッスリヤの王のところへ行こうと、ユフラテ川をさして上ってきたので、ヨシヤ王は彼を迎え撃とうと出て行ったが、パロ・ネコは彼を見るや、メギドにおいて彼を殺した。 |
| 23-30 |
And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead. |
その家来たちは彼の死体を車に載せ、メギドからエルサレムに運んで彼の墓に葬った。国の民はヨシヤの子エホアハズを立て、彼に油を注ぎ、王として父に代らせた。 |
| 23-31 |
Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. |
エホアハズは王となった時二十三歳で、エルサレムで三か月の間、世を治めた。母はリブナのエレミヤの娘で、名をハムタルといった。 |
| 23-32 |
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done. |
エホアハズは先祖たちがすべて行ったように主の目の前に悪を行ったが、 |
| 23-33 |
And Pharaoh-necoh put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold. |
パロ・ネコは彼をハマテの地のリブラにつないで置いて、エルサレムで世を治めることができないようにした。また銀百タラントと金一タラントのみつぎを国に課した。 |
| 23-34 |
And Pharaoh-necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim: but he took Jehoahaz away; and he came to Egypt, and died there. |
そしてパロ・ネコはヨシヤの子エリアキムを父ヨシヤに代って王とならせ、名をエホヤキムと改め、エホアハズをエジプトへ引いて行った。エホアハズはエジプトへ行ってそこで死んだ。 |
| 23-35 |
And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh-necoh. |
エホヤキムは金銀をパロに送った。しかし彼はパロの命に従って金を送るために国に税を課し、国の民おのおのからその課税にしたがって金銀をきびしく取り立てて、それをパロ・ネコに送った。 |
| 23-36 |
Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Zebidah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. |
エホヤキムは二十五歳で王となり、エルサレムで十一年の間、世を治めた。母はルマのペダヤの娘で、名をゼビダといった。 |

And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his fathers had done. |
エホヤキムは先祖たちがすべて行ったように主の目の前に悪を行った。 |
