| 31-1 |
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
さて主はモーセに言われた、 |
| 31-2 |
Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people. |
「ミデアンびとにイスラエルの人々のあだを報いなさい。その後、あなたはあなたの民に加えられるであろう」。 |
| 31-3 |
And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Jehovah’s vengeance on Midian. |
モーセは民に言った、「あなたがたのうちから人を選んで戦いのために武装させ、ミデアンびとを攻めて、主のためミデアンびとに復讐しなさい。 |
| 31-4 |
Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war. |
すなわちイスラエルのすべての部族から、部族ごとに千人ずつを戦いに送り出さなければならない」。 |
| 31-5 |
So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war. |
そこでイスラエルの部族のうちから部族ごとに千人ずつを選び、一万二千人を得て、戦いのために武装させた。 |
| 31-6 |
And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand. |
モーセは各部族から千人ずつを戦いにつかわし、また祭司エレアザルの子ピネハスに、聖なる器と吹き鳴らすラッパとを執らせて、共に戦いにつかわした。 |
| 31-7 |
And they warred against Midian, as Jehovah commanded Moses; and they slew every male. |
彼らは主がモーセに命じられたようにミデアンびとと戦って、その男子をみな殺した。 |
| 31-8 |
And they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. |
その殺した者のほかにまたミデアンの王五人を殺した。その名はエビ、レケム、ツル、フル、レバである。またベオルの子バラムをも、つるぎにかけて殺した。 |
| 31-9 |
And the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey. |
またイスラエルの人々はミデアンの女たちとその子供たちを捕虜にし、その家畜と、羊の群れと、貨財とをことごとく奪い取り、 |
| 31-10 |
And all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire. |
そのすまいのある町々と、その部落とを、ことごとく火で焼いた。 |
| 31-11 |
And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast. |
こうして彼らはすべて奪ったものと、かすめたものとは人をも家畜をも取り、 |
| 31-12 |
And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho. |
その生けどった者と、かすめたものと、奪ったものとを携えて、エリコに近いヨルダンのほとりのモアブの平野の宿営におるモーセと祭司エレアザルとイスラエルの人々の会衆のもとへもどってきた。 |
| 31-13 |
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp. |
ときにモーセと祭司エレアザルと会衆のつかさたちはみな宿営の外に出て迎えたが、 |
| 31-14 |
And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war. |
モーセは軍勢の将たち、すなわち戦場から帰ってきた千人の長たちと、百人の長たちに対して怒った。 |
| 31-15 |
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? |
モーセは彼らに言った、「あなたがたは女たちをみな生かしておいたのか。 |
| 31-16 |
Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Jehovah. |
彼らはバラムのはかりごとによって、イスラエルの人々に、ペオルのことで主に罪を犯させ、ついに主の会衆のうちに疫病を起すに至った。 |
| 31-17 |
Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. |
それで今、この子供たちのうちの男の子をみな殺し、また男と寝て、男を知った女をみな殺しなさい。 |
| 31-18 |
But all the women-children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. |
ただし、まだ男と寝ず、男を知らない娘はすべてあなたがたのために生かしておきなさい。 |
| 31-19 |
And encamp ye without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives. |
そしてあなたがたは七日のあいだ宿営の外にとどまりなさい。あなたがたのうちすべて人を殺した者、およびすべて殺された者に触れた者は、あなたがた自身も、あなたがたの捕虜も共に、三日目と七日目とに身を清めなければならない。 |
| 31-20 |
And as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify yourselves. |
またすべての衣服と、すべての皮の器と、すべてやぎの毛で作ったものと、すべての木の器とを清めなければならない」。 |
| 31-21 |
And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses: |
祭司エレアザルは戦いに出たいくさびとたちに言った、「これは主がモーセに命じられた律法の定めである。 |
| 31-22 |
howbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead, |
金、銀、青銅、鉄、すず、鉛など、 |
| 31-23 |
everything that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water. |
すべて火に耐える物は火の中を通さなければならない。そうすれば清くなるであろう。なおその上、汚れを清める水で、清めなければならない。しかし、すべて火に耐えないものは水の中を通さなければならない。 |
| 31-24 |
And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean; and afterward ye shall come into the camp. |
あなたがたは七日目に衣服を洗わなければならない。そして清くなり、その後宿営にはいることができる」。 |
| 31-25 |
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, |
主はモーセに言われた、 |
| 31-26 |
Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the congregation; |
「あなたと祭司エレアザルおよび会衆の氏族のかしらたちは、その生けどった人と家畜の獲物の総数を調べ、 |
| 31-27 |
and divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation. |
その獲物を戦いに出た勇士と、全会衆とに折半しなさい。 |
| 31-28 |
And levy a tribute unto Jehovah of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the asses, and of the flocks: |
そして戦いに出たいくさびとに、人または牛、またはろば、または羊を、おのおの五百ごとに一つを取り、みつぎとして主にささげさせなさい。 |
| 31-29 |
take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for Jehovah’s heave-offering. |
すなわち彼らが受ける半分のなかから、それを取り、主にささげる物として祭司エレアザルに渡しなさい。 |
| 31-30 |
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah. |
またイスラエルの人々が受ける半分のなかから、その獲た人または牛、またはろば、または羊などの家畜を、おのおの五十ごとに一つを取り、主の幕屋の務をするレビびとに与えなさい」。 |
| 31-31 |
And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
モーセと祭司エレアザルとは主がモーセに命じられたとおりに行った。 |
| 31-32 |
Now the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep, |
そこでその獲物、すなわち、いくさびとたちが奪い取ったものの残りは羊六十七万五千、 |
| 31-33 |
and threescore and twelve thousand oxen, |
牛七万二千、 |
| 31-34 |
and threescore and one thousand asses, |
ろば六万一千、 |
| 31-35 |
and thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him. |
人三万二千、これはみな男と寝ず、男を知らない女であった。 |
| 31-36 |
And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep: |
そしてその半分、すなわち戦いに出た者の分は羊三十三万七千五百、 |
| 31-37 |
and Jehovah’s tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen. |
主にみつぎとした羊は六百七十五。 |
| 31-38 |
And the oxen were thirty and six thousand; of which Jehovah’s tribute was threescore and twelve. |
牛は三万六千、そのうちから主にみつぎとしたものは七十二。 |
| 31-39 |
And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which Jehovah’s tribute was threescore and one. |
ろばは三万五百、そのうちから主にみつぎとしたものは六十一。 |
| 31-40 |
And the persons were sixteen thousand; of whom Jehovah’s tribute was thirty and two persons. |
人は一万六千、そのうちから主にみつぎとしたものは三十二人であった。 |
| 31-41 |
And Moses gave the tribute, which was Jehovah’s heave-offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
モーセはそのみつぎを主にささげる物として祭司エレアザルに渡した。主がモーセに命じられたとおりである。 |
| 31-42 |
And of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred |
モーセが戦いに出た人々とは別にイスラエルの人々に与えた半分、 |
| 31-43 |
(now the congregation’s half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred sheep, |
すなわち会衆の受けた半分は羊三十三万七千五百、 |
| 31-44 |
and thirty and six thousand oxen, |
牛三万六千、 |
| 31-45 |
and thirty thousand and five hundred asses, |
ろば三万五百、 |
| 31-46 |
and sixteen thousand persons), |
人一万六千であって、 |
| 31-47 |
even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
モーセはイスラエルの人々の受けた半分のなかから、人および獣をおのおの五十ごとに一つを取って、主の幕屋の務をするレビびとに与えた。主がモーセに命じられたとおりである。 |
| 31-48 |
And the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses; |
時に軍勢の将であったものども、すなわち千人の長たちと百人の長たちとがモーセのところにきて、 |
| 31-49 |
and they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us. |
モーセに言った、「しもべらは、指揮下のいくさびとを数えましたが、われわれのうち、ひとりも欠けた者はありませんでした。 |
| 31-50 |
And we have brought Jehovah’s oblation, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before Jehovah. |
それで、われわれは、おのおの手に入れた金の飾り物、すなわち腕飾り、腕輪、指輪、耳輪、首飾りなどを主に携えてきて供え物とし、主の前にわれわれの命のあがないをしようと思います」。 |
| 31-51 |
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels. |
モーセと祭司エレアザルとは、彼らから細工を施した金の飾り物を受け取った。 |
| 31-52 |
And all the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to Jehovah, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels. |
千人の長たちと百人の長たちとが、主にささげものとした金は合わせて一万六千七百五十シケル。 |
| 31-53 |
( For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.) |
いくさびとは、おのおの自分のぶんどり物を獲た。 |
| 31-54 |
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before Jehovah. |
モーセと祭司エレアザルとは、千人の長たちと百人の長たちとから、その金を受け取り、それを携えて会見の幕屋に入り、主の前に置いてイスラエルの人々のために記念とした。 |
