| 15-1 |
And Samuel said unto Saul, Jehovah sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of Jehovah. |
さて、サムエルはサウルに言った、「主は、わたしをつかわし、あなたに油をそそいで、その民イスラエルの王とされました。それゆえ、今、主の言葉を聞きなさい。 |
| 15-2 |
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I have marked that which Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt. |
万軍の主は、こう仰せられる、『わたしは、アマレクがイスラエルにした事、すなわちイスラエルがエジプトから上ってきた時、その途中で敵対したことについて彼らを罰するであろう。 |
| 15-3 |
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. |
今、行ってアマレクを撃ち、そのすべての持ち物を滅ぼしつくせ。彼らをゆるすな。男も女も、幼な子も乳飲み子も、牛も羊も、らくだも、ろばも皆、殺せ』」。 |
| 15-4 |
And Saul summoned the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah. |
サウルは民を呼び集め、テライムで人数を調べたところ、歩兵は二十万、ユダの人は一万であった。 |
| 15-5 |
5?And Saul came to the city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley. |
そしてサウルはアマレクの町へ行って、谷に兵を伏せた。 |
| 15-6 |
And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. |
サウルはケニびとに言った、「さあ、あなたがたはアマレクびとを離れて、下っていってください。彼らと一緒にあなたがたを滅ぼすようなことがあってはならない。あなたがたは、イスラエルの人々がエジプトから上ってきた時、親切にしてくれたのですから」。そこでケニびとはアマレクびとを離れて行った。 |

And Saul smote the Amalekites, from Havilah as thou goest to Shur, that is before Egypt. |
サウルはアマレクびとを撃って、ハビラからエジプトの東にあるシュルにまで及んだ。 |
| 15-8 |
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. |
そしてアマレクびとの王アガグをいけどり、つるぎをもってその民をことごとく滅ぼした。 |
| 15-9 |
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly. |
しかしサウルと民はアガグをゆるし、また羊と牛の最も良いもの、肥えたものならびに小羊と、すべての良いものを残し、それらを滅ぼし尽すことを好まず、ただ値うちのない、つまらない物を滅ぼし尽した。 |
| 15-10 |
Then came the word of Jehovah unto Samuel, saying, |
その時、主の言葉がサムエルに臨んだ、 |
| 15-11 |
It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And Samuel was wroth; and he cried unto Jehovah all night. |
「わたしはサウルを王としたことを悔いる。彼がそむいて、わたしに従わず、わたしの言葉を行わなかったからである」。サムエルは怒って、夜通し、主に呼ばわった。 |
| 15-12 |
And Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning; and it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a monument, and turned, and passed on, and went down to Gilgal. |
そして朝サウルに会うため、早く起きたが、サムエルに告げる人があった、「サウルはカルメルにきて、自分のために戦勝記念碑を建て、身をかえして進み、ギルガルへ下って行きました」。 |
| 15-13 |
And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of Jehovah: I have performed the commandment of Jehovah. |
サムエルがサウルのもとへ来ると、サウルは彼に言った、「どうぞ、主があなたを祝福されますように。わたしは主の言葉を実行しました」。 |
| 15-14 |
And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? |
サムエルは言った、「それならば、わたしの耳にはいる、この羊の声と、わたしの聞く牛の声は、いったい、なんですか」。 |
| 15-15 |
And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto Jehovah thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. |
サウルは言った、「人々がアマレクびとの所から引いてきたのです。民は、あなたの神、主にささげるために、羊と牛の最も良いものを残したのです。そのほかは、われわれが滅ぼし尽しました」。 |
| 15-16 |
Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what Jehovah hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. |
サムエルはサウルに言った、「おやめなさい。昨夜、主がわたしに言われたことを、あなたに告げましょう」。サウルは彼に言った、「言ってください」。 |
| 15-17 |
And Samuel said, Though thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel? And Jehovah anointed thee king over Israel; |
サムエルは言った、「たとい、自分では小さいと思っても、あなたはイスラエルの諸部族の長ではありませんか。主はあなたに油を注いでイスラエルの王とされた。 |
| 15-18 |
and Jehovah sent thee on a journey, and said, Go, and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. |
そして主はあなたに使命を授け、つかわして言われた、『行って、罪びとなるアマレクびとを滅ぼし尽せ。彼らを皆殺しにするまで戦え』。 |
| 15-19 |
Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of Jehovah, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah? |
それであるのに、どうしてあなたは主の声に聞き従わないで、ぶんどり物にとびかかり、主の目の前に悪をおこなったのですか」。 |
| 15-20 |
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah, and have gone the way which Jehovah sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. |
サウルはサムエルに言った、「わたしは主の声に聞き従い、主がつかわされた使命を帯びて行き、アマレクの王アガグを連れてきて、アマレクびとを滅ぼし尽しました。 |
| 15-21 |
But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice unto Jehovah thy God in Gilgal. |
しかし民は滅ぼし尽すべきもののうち最も良いものを、ギルガルで、あなたの神、主にささげるため、ぶんどり物のうちから羊と牛を取りました」。 |
| 15-22 |
And Samuel said, Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. |
サムエルは言った、「主はそのみ言葉に聞き従う事を喜ばれるように、燔祭や犠牲を喜ばれるであろうか。見よ、従うことは犠牲にまさり、聞くことは雄羊の脂肪にまさる。 |
| 15-23 |
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, he hath also rejected thee from being king. |
そむくことは占いの罪に等しく、強情は偶像礼拝の罪に等しいからである。あなたが主のことばを捨てたので、主もまたあなたを捨てて、王の位から退けられた」。 |
| 15-24 |
And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah, and thy words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. |
サウルはサムエルに言った、「わたしは主の命令とあなたの言葉にそむいて罪を犯しました。民を恐れて、その声に聞き従ったからです。 |
| 15-25 |
Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah. |
どうぞ、今わたしの罪をゆるし、わたしと一緒に帰って、主を拝ませてください」。 |
| 15-26 |
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee; for thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, and Jehovah hath rejected thee from being king over Israel. |
サムエルはサウルに言った、「あなたと一緒に帰りません。あなたが主の言葉を捨てたので、主もあなたを捨てて、イスラエルの王位から退けられたからです」。 |
| 15-27 |
And as Samuel turned about to go away, Saul laid hold upon the skirt of his robe, and it rent. |
こうしてサムエルが去ろうとして身をかえした時、サウルがサムエルの上着のすそを捕えたので、それは裂けた。 |
| 15-28 |
And Samuel said unto him, Jehovah hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou. |
サムエルは彼に言った、「主はきょう、あなたからイスラエルの王国を裂き、もっと良いあなたの隣人に与えられた。 |
| 15-29 |
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent. |
またイスラエルの栄光は偽ることもなく、悔いることもない。彼は人ではないから悔いることはない」。 |
| 15-30 |
Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah thy God. |
サウルは言った、「わたしは罪を犯しましたが、どうぞ、民の長老たち、およびイスラエルの前で、わたしを尊び、わたしと一緒に帰って、あなたの神、主を拝ませてください」。 |
| 15-31 |
So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped Jehovah. |
そこでサムエルはサウルのあとについて帰った。そしてサウルは主を拝んだ。 |
| 15-32 |
Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him cheerfully. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past. |
時にサムエルは言った、「わたしの所にアマレクびとの王アガグを引いてきなさい」。アガグはうれしそうにサムエルの所にきた。アガグは「死の苦しみはきっと過ぎ去ったのだ」と思った。 |
| 15-33 |
And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before Jehovah in Gilgal. |
サムエルは言った、「あなたのつるぎは多くの女に子供を失わせた。そのようにあなたの母も女のうちで最も無惨に子供を失う者となるであろう」。サムエルはギルガルで主の前に、アガグを寸断した。 |
| 15-34 |
Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul. |
そしてサムエルはラマに行き、サウルは故郷のギベアに上って、その家に帰った。 |
| 15-35 |
And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul: and Jehovah repented that he had made Saul king over Israel. |
サムエルは死ぬ日まで、二度とサウルを見なかった。しかしサムエルはサウルのために悲しんだ。また主はサウルをイスラエルの王としたことを悔いられた。 |
