| 28-1 |
And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their hosts together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me in the host, thou and thy men. |
そのころ、ペリシテびとがイスラエルと戦おうとして、いくさのために軍勢を集めたので、アキシはダビデに言った、「あなたは、しかと承知してください。あなたとあなたの従者たちとは、わたしと共に出て、軍勢に加わらなければなりません」。 |

And David said to Achish, Therefore thou shalt know what thy servant will do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of my head for ever. |
ダビデはアキシに言った、「よろしい、あなたはしもべが何をするかを知られるでしょう」。アキシはダビデに言った、「よろしい、あなたを終身わたしの護衛の長としよう」。 |
| 28-3 |
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. |
さてサムエルはすでに死んで、イスラエルのすべての人は彼のために悲しみ、その町ラマに葬った。また先にサウルは口寄せや占い師をその地から追放した。 |
| 28-4 |
And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa. |
ペリシテびとが集まってきてシュネムに陣を取ったので、サウルはイスラエルのすべての人を集めて、ギルボアに陣を取った。 |

And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. |
サウルはペリシテびとの軍勢を見て恐れ、その心はいたくおののいた。 |
| 28-6 |
And when Saul inquired of Jehovah, Jehovah answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. |
そこでサウルは主に伺いをたてたが、主は夢によっても、ウリムによっても、預言者によっても彼に答えられなかった。 |
| 28-7 |
Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor. |
サウルはしもべたちに言った、「わたしのために、口寄せの女を捜し出しなさい。わたしは行ってその女に尋ねよう」。しもべたちは彼に言った、「見よ、エンドルにひとりの口寄せがいます」。 |
| 28-8 |
And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Divine unto me, I pray thee, by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomsoever I shall name unto thee. |
サウルは姿を変えてほかの着物をまとい、ふたりの従者を伴って行き、夜の間に、その女の所にきた。そしてサウルは言った、「わたしのために口寄せの術を行って、わたしがあなたに告げる人を呼び起してください」。 |
| 28-9 |
And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? |
女は彼に言った、「あなたはサウルがしたことをごぞんじでしょう。彼は口寄せや占い師をその国から断ち滅ぼしました。どうしてあなたは、わたしの命にわなをかけて、わたしを死なせようとするのですか」。 |
| 28-10 |
And Saul sware to her by Jehovah, saying, As Jehovah liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. |
サウルは主をさして彼女に誓って言った、「主は生きておられる。この事のためにあなたが罰を受けることはないでしょう」。 |
| 28-11 |
Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. |
女は言った、「あなたのためにだれを呼び起しましょうか」。サウルは言った、「サムエルを呼び起してください」。 |
| 28-12 |
And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. |
女はサムエルを見た時、大声で叫んだ。そしてその女はサウルに言った、「どうしてあなたはわたしを欺かれたのですか。あなたはサウルです」。 |
| 28-13 |
And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what seest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth. |
王は彼女に言った、「恐れることはない。あなたには何が見えるのですか」。女はサウルに言った、「神のようなかたが地からのぼられるのが見えます」。 |
| 28-14 |
And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a robe. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and did obeisance. |
サウルは彼女に言った、「その人はどんな様子をしていますか」。彼女は言った、「ひとりの老人がのぼってこられます。その人は上着をまとっておられます」。サウルはその人がサムエルであるのを知り、地にひれ伏して拝した。 |
| 28-15 |
And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. |
サムエルはサウルに言った、「なぜ、わたしを呼び起して、わたしを煩わすのか」。サウルは言った、「わたしは、ひじょうに悩んでいます。ペリシテびとがわたしに向かっていくさを起し、神はわたしを離れて、預言者によっても、夢によっても、もはやわたしに答えられないのです。それで、わたしのすべきことを知るために、あなたを呼びました」。 |
| 28-16 |
And Samuel said, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Jehovah is departed from thee, and is become thine adversary? |
サムエルは言った、「主があなたを離れて、あなたの敵となられたのに、どうしてあなたはわたしに問うのですか。 |
| 28-17 |
And Jehovah hath done unto thee, as he spake by me: and Jehovah hath rent the kingdom out of thy hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David. |
主は、わたしによって語られたとおりにあなたに行われた。主は王国を、あなたの手から裂きはなして、あなたの隣人であるダビデに与えられた。 |
| 28-18 |
Because thou obeyedst not the voice of Jehovah, and didst not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath Jehovah done this thing unto thee this day. |
あなたは主の声に聞き従わず、主の激しい怒りに従って、アマレクびとを撃ち滅ぼさなかったゆえに、主はこの事を、この日、あなたに行われたのである。 |
| 28-19 |
Moreover Jehovah will deliver Israel also with thee into the hand of the Philistines; and to-morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: Jehovah will deliver the host of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines. |
主はまたイスラエルをも、あなたと共に、ペリシテびとの手に渡されるであろう。あすは、あなたもあなたの子らもわたしと一緒になるであろう。また主はイスラエルの軍勢をもペリシテびとの手に渡される」。 |
| 28-20 |
Then Saul fell straightway his full length upon the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night. |
そのときサウルは、ただちに、地に伸び、倒れ、サムエルの言葉のために、ひじょうに恐れ、またその力はうせてしまった。その一日一夜、食物をとっていなかったからである。 |
| 28-21 |
And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thy handmaid hath hearkened unto thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me. |
女はサウルのもとにきて、彼のおののいているのを見て言った、「あなたのつかえめは、あなたの声に聞き従い、わたしの命をかけて、あなたの言われた言葉に従いました。 |
| 28-22 |
Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thy handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way. |
それゆえ今あなたも、つかえめの声に聞き従い、一口のパンをあなたの前にそなえさせてください。あなたはそれをめしあがって力をつけ、道を行ってください」。 |
| 28-23 |
But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed. |
ところがサウルは断って言った、「わたしは食べません」。しかし彼のしもべたちも、その女もしいてすすめたので、サウルはその言葉を聞きいれ、地から起きあがり、床の上にすわった。 |
| 28-24 |
And the woman had a fatted calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof: |
その女は家に肥えた子牛があったので、急いでそれをほふり、また麦粉をとり、こねて、種入れぬパンを焼き、 |
| 28-25 |
and she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night. |
サウルとそのしもべたちの前に持ってきたので、彼らは食べた。そして彼らは立ち上がって、その夜のうちに去った。 |
