Now the Philistines gathered together all their hosts to Aphek: and the Israelites encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel. |
さてペリシテびとは、その軍勢をことごとくアペクに集めた。イスラエルびとはエズレルにある泉のかたわらに陣を取った。 |
| 29-2 |
And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands; and David and his men passed on in the rearward with Achish. |
ペリシテびとの君たちは、あるいは百人、あるいは千人を率いて進み、ダビデとその従者たちはアキシと共に、しんがりになって進んだ。 |

Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who hath been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell away unto me unto this day? |
その時、ペリシテびとの君たちは言った、「これらのヘブルびとはここで何をしているのか」。アキシはペリシテびとたちに言った、「これはイスラエルの王サウルのしもべダビデではないか。彼はこの日ごろ、この年ごろ、わたしと共にいたが、逃げ落ちてきた日からきょうまで、わたしは彼にあやまちがあったのを見たことがない」。 |

But the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us: for wherewith should this fellow reconcile himself unto his lord? should it not be with the heads of these men? |
しかしペリシテびとの君たちは彼に向かって怒った。そしてペリシテびとの君たちは彼に言った、「この人を帰らせて、あなたが彼を置いたもとの所へ行かせなさい。われわれと一緒に彼を戦いに下らせてはならない。戦いの時、彼がわれわれの敵となるかも知れないからである。この者は何をもってその主君とやわらぐことができようか。ここにいる人々の首をもってするほかはあるまい。 |

Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying,Saul hath slain his thousands,And David his ten thousands? |
これは、かつて人々が踊りのうちに歌いかわして、『サウルは千を撃ち殺し、ダビデは万を撃ち殺した』と言った、あのダビデではないか」。 |

Then Achish called David, and said unto him, As Jehovah liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favor thee not. |
そこでアキシはダビデを呼んで言った、「主は生きておられる。あなたは正しい人である。あなたがわたしと一緒に戦いに出入りすることをわたしは良いと思っている。それはあなたがわたしの所にきた日からこの日まで、わたしは、あなたに悪い事があったのを見たことがないからである。しかしペリシテびとの君たちはあなたを良く言わない。 |

Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines. |
それゆえ今安らかに帰って行きなさい。彼らが悪いと思うことはしないがよかろう」。 |
| 29-8 |
And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been before thee unto this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king? |
ダビデはアキシに言った、「しかしわたしが何をしたというのですか。わたしがあなたに仕えはじめた日からこの日までに、あなたはしもべの身に何を見られたので、わたしは行って、わたしの主君である王の敵と戦うことができないのですか」。 |

And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle. |
アキシはダビデに答えた、「わたしは見て、あなたが神の使のようにりっぱな人であることを知っている。しかし、ペリシテびとの君たちは、『われわれと一緒に彼を戦いに上らせてはならない』と言っている。 |

Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with the servants of thy lord that are come with thee; and as soon as ye are up early in the morning, and have light, depart. |
それで、あなたは、一緒にきたあなたの主君のしもべたちと共に朝早く起きなさい。そして朝早く起き、夜が明けてから去りなさい」。 |
| 29-11 |
So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel. |
こうしてダビデとその従者たちとは共にペリシテびとの地へ帰ろうと、朝早く起きて出立したが、ペリシテびとはエズレルへ上って行った。 |
