And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him. |

And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that, when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. |
アブサロムは早く起きて門の道のかたわらに立つのを常とした。人が訴えがあって王に裁判を求めに来ると、アブサロムはその人を呼んで言った、「あなたはどの町の者ですか」。その人が「しもべはイスラエルのこれこれの部族のものです」と言うと、 |

And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. |
アブサロムはその人に言った、「見よ、あなたの要求は良く、また正しい。しかしあなたのことを聞くべき人は王がまだ立てていない」。 |
| 15-4 |
Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! |
アブサロムはまた言った、「ああ、わたしがこの地のさばきびとであったならばよいのに。そうすれば訴え、または申立てのあるものは、皆わたしの所にきて、わたしはこれに公平なさばきを行うことができるのだが」。 |

And it was so, that, when any man came nigh to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him. |
そして人が彼に敬礼しようとして近づくと、彼は手を伸べ、その人を抱きかかえて口づけした。 |
| 15-6 |
And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. |
アブサロムは王にさばきを求めて来るすべてのイスラエルびとにこのようにした。こうしてアブサロムはイスラエルの人々の心を自分のものとした。 |
| 15-7 |
And it came to pass at the end of forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto Jehovah, in Hebron. |
そして四年の終りに、アブサロムは王に言った、「どうぞわたしを行かせ、ヘブロンで、かつて主に立てた誓いを果させてください。 |
| 15-8 |
For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If Jehovah shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Jehovah. |
それは、しもべがスリヤのゲシュルにいた時、誓いを立てて、『もし主がほんとうにわたしをエルサレムに連れ帰ってくださるならば、わたしは主に礼拝をささげます』と言ったからです」。 |
| 15-9 |
And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron. |
王が彼に、「安らかに行きなさい」と言ったので、彼は立ってヘブロンへ行った。 |
| 15-10 |
But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron. |
そしてアブサロムは密使をイスラエルのすべての部族のうちにつかわして言った、「ラッパの響きを聞くならば、『アブサロムがヘブロンで王となった』と言いなさい」。 |

And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they knew not anything. |
二百人の招かれた者がエルサレムからアブサロムと共に行った。彼らは何心なく行き、何事をも知らなかった。 |
| 15-12 |
And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom. |
アブサロムは犠牲をささげている間に人をつかわして、ダビデの議官ギロびとアヒトペルを、その町ギロから呼び寄せた。徒党は強く、民はしだいにアブサロムに加わった。 |
| 15-13 |
And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom. |
ひとりの使者がダビデのところにきて、「イスラエルの人々の心はアブサロムに従いました」と言った。 |
| 15-14 |
And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. |
ダビデは、自分と一緒にエルサレムにいるすべての家来に言った、「立て、われわれは逃げよう。そうしなければアブサロムの前からのがれることはできなくなるであろう。急いで行くがよい。さもないと、彼らが急ぎ追いついて、われわれに害をこうむらせ、つるぎをもって町を撃つであろう」。 |

And the king’s servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants are ready to do whatsoever my lord the king shall choose. |
王のしもべたちは王に言った、「しもべたちは、わが主君、王の選ばれる所をすべて行います」。 |
| 15-16 |
And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, that were concubines, to keep the house. |
こうして王は出て行き、その全家は彼に従った。王は十人のめかけを残して家を守らせた。 |
| 15-17 |
And the king went forth, and all the people after him; and they tarried in Beth-merhak. |
王は出て行き、民はみな彼に従った。彼らは町はずれの家にとどまった。 |
| 15-18 |
And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men that came after him from Gath, passed on before the king. |
彼のしもべたちは皆、彼のかたわらを進み、すべてのケレテびとと、すべてのペレテびと、および彼に従ってガテからきた六百人のガテびとは皆、王の前に進んだ。 |
| 15-19 |
Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return, and abide with the king: for thou art a foreigner, and also an exile; return to thine own place. |
時に王はガテびとイッタイに言った、「どうしてあなたもまた、われわれと共に行くのですか。あなたは帰って王と共にいなさい。あなたは外国人で、また自分の国から追放された者だからです。 |
| 15-20 |
Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us, seeing I go whither I may? return thou, and take back thy brethren; mercy and truth be with thee. |
あなたは、きのう来たばかりです。わたしは自分の行く所を知らずに行くのに、どうしてきょう、あなたを、われわれと共にさまよわせてよいでしょう。あなたは帰りなさい。あなたの兄弟たちも連れて帰りなさい。どうぞ主が恵みと真実をあなたに示してくださるように」。 |
| 15-21 |
And Ittai answered the king, and said, As Jehovah liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether for death or for life, even there also will thy servant be. |
しかしイッタイは王に答えた、「主は生きておられる。わが君、王は生きておられる。わが君、王のおられる所に、死ぬも生きるも、しもべもまたそこにおります」。 |
| 15-22 |
And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him. |
ダビデはイッタイに言った、「では進んで行きなさい」。そこでガテびとイッタイは進み、また彼のすべての従者および彼と共にいた子どもたちも皆、進んだ。

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness. |
国中みな大声で泣いた。民はみな進んだ。王もまたキデロンの谷を渡って進み、民は皆進んで荒野の方に向かった。 |
| 15-24 |
And, lo, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city. |
そしてアビヤタルも上ってきた。見よ、ザドクおよび彼と共にいるすべてのレビびともまた、神の契約の箱をかいてきた。彼らは神の箱をおろして、民がことごとく町を出てしまうのを待った。 |
| 15-25 |
And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favor in the eyes of Jehovah, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation: |
そこで王はザドクに言った、「神の箱を町にかきもどすがよい。もしわたしが主の前に恵みを得るならば、主はわたしを連れ帰って、わたしにその箱とそのすまいとを見させてくださるであろう。 |
| 15-26 |
but if he say thus, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him. |
しかしもし主が、『わたしはおまえを喜ばない』とそう言われるのであれば、どうぞ主が良しと思われることをわたしにしてくださるように。わたしはここにおります」。 |
| 15-27 |
The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art thou not a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar. |
王はまた祭司ザドクに言った、「見よ、あなたもアビヤタルも、ふたりの子たち、すなわちあなたの子アヒマアズとアビヤタルの子ヨナタンを連れて、安らかに町に帰りなさい。 |
| 15-28 |
See, I will tarry at the fords of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me. |
わたしはあなたがたから言葉があって知らせをうけるまで、荒野の渡し場にとどまります」。 |
| 15-29 |
Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they abode there. |
そこでザドクとアビヤタルは神の箱をエルサレムにかきもどり、そこにとどまった。 |
| 15-30 |
And David went up by the ascent of the mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people that were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up. |
ダビデはオリブ山の坂道を登ったが、登る時に泣き、その頭をおおい、はだしで行った。彼と共にいる民もみな頭をおおって登り、泣きながら登った。 |
| 15-31 |
And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness. |
時に、「アヒトペルがアブサロムと共謀した者のうちにいる」とダビデに告げる人があったのでダビデは言った、「主よ、どうぞアヒトペルの計略を愚かなものにしてください」。 |
| 15-32 |
And it came to pass, that, when David was come to the top of the ascent, where God was worshipped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head. |
ダビデが山の頂にある神を礼拝する場所にきた時、見よ、アルキびとホシャイはその上着を裂き、頭に土をかぶり、来てダビデを迎えた。 |
| 15-33 |
And David said unto him, If thou passest on with me, then thou wilt be a burden unto me: |
ダビデは彼に言った、「もしあなたがわたしと共に進むならば、わたしの重荷となるであろう。 |
| 15-34 |
but if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant in time past, so will I now be thy servant; then wilt thou defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel. |
しかしもしあなたが町に帰ってアブサロムに向かい、『王よ、わたしはあなたのしもべとなります。わたしがこれまで、あなたの父のしもべであったように、わたしは今あなたのしもべとなります』と言うならば、あなたはわたしのためにアヒトペルの計略を破ることができるであろう。 |
| 15-35 |
And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king’s house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests. |
祭司たち、ザドクとアビヤタルとは、あなたと共にあそこにいるではないか。それゆえ、あなたは王の家から聞くことをことごとく祭司たち、ザドクとアビヤタルとに告げなさい。 |
| 15-36 |
Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son; and by them ye shall send unto me everything that ye shall hear. 37?So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem. |
あそこには彼らと共にそのふたりの子たち、すなわちザドクの子アヒマアズとアビヤタルの子ヨナタンとがいる。あなたがたは聞いたことをことごとく彼らの手によってわたしに通報しなさい」。 |
| 15-37 |
So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem. |
そこでダビデの友ホシャイは町にはいった。その時アブサロムはすでにエルサレムにはいっていた。 |
