The word of Jehovah which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah. |
ユダの王アモンの子ヨシヤの世に、ゼパニヤに臨んだ主の言葉。ゼパニヤはクシの子、クシはゲダリヤの子、ゲダリヤはアマリヤの子、アマリヤはヒゼキヤの子である。 |

I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah. |
主は言われる、「わたしは地のおもてからすべてのものを一掃する」。 |
| 1-3 |
I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah. |
主は言われる、「わたしは人も獣も一掃し、空の鳥、海の魚をも一掃する。わたしは悪人を倒す。わたしは地のおもてから人を絶ち滅ぼす」。 |

And I will stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarim with the priests; |
「わたしはユダとエルサレムのすべての住民との上に手を伸べる。わたしはこの所からバアルの残党と、偶像の祭司の名とを断つ。 |

and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam; |
また屋上で天の万象を拝む者、主に誓いを立てて拝みながら、またミルコムをさして誓う者、 |
| 1-6 |
and them that are turned back from following Jehovah; and those that have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him. |
主にそむいて従わない者、主を求めず、主を尋ねない者を断つ」。 |
| 1-7 |
Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord Jehovah; for the day of Jehovah is at hand: for Jehovah hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath consecrated his guests. |
主なる神の前に沈黙せよ。主の日は近づき、主はすでに犠牲を備え、その招いた者を聖別されたからである。 |

And it shall come to pass in the day of Jehovah’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s sons, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel. |
主の犠牲をささげる日に、「わたしはつかさたちと王の子たち、およびすべて異邦の衣服を着る者を罰する。 |

And in that day I will punish all those that leap over the threshold, that fill their master’s house with violence and deceit. |
その日にわたしはまた、すべて敷居をとび越え、暴虐と欺きとを自分の主君の家に満たす者を罰する」。 |
| 1-10 |
And in that day, saith Jehovah, there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills. |
主は言われる、「その日には魚の門から叫び声がおこり、第二の町からうめき声がおこり、もろもろの丘からすさまじい響きがおこる。 |

Wail, ye inhabitants of Maktesh; for all the people of Canaan are undone; all they that were laden with silver are cut off. |
しっくいの家の住民よ、泣き叫べ。あきないする民は皆滅ぼされ、銀を量る者は皆断たれるからである。 |
| 1-12 |
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil. |
その時、わたしはともしびをもって、エルサレムを尋ねる。そして滓の上に凝り固まり、その心の中で『主は良いことも、悪いこともしない』と言う人々をわたしは罰する。 |

And their wealth shall become a spoil, and their houses a desolation: yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof. |
彼らの財宝はかすめられ、彼らの家は荒れはてる。彼らは家を建てても、それに住むことができない、ぶどう畑を作っても、そのぶどう酒を飲むことができない」。 |

The great day of Jehovah is near, it is near and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of Jehovah; the mighty man crieth there bitterly. |
主の大いなる日は近い、近づいて、すみやかに来る。主の日の声は耳にいたい。そこに、勇士もいたく叫ぶ。 |

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, |
その日は怒りの日、なやみと苦しみの日、荒れ、また滅びる日、暗く、薄暗い日、暗く、薄暗い日、雲と黒雲の日、雲と黒雲の日、 |

a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high battlements. |
ラッパとときの声の日、堅固な町と高いやぐらを攻める日である。 |

And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung. |
わたしは人々になやみを下して、盲人のように歩かせる。彼らが主に対して罪を犯したからである。彼らの血はちりのように流され、彼らの肉は糞土のように捨てられる。 |
| 1-18 |
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he will make an end, yea, a terrible end, of all them that dwell in the land. |
彼らの銀も金も、主の怒りの日には彼らを救うことができない。全地は主のねたみの火にのまれる。主は地に住む人々をたちまち滅ぼし尽される。 |
